Many lawyers only care about getting their client’s money. That’s unfortunate, but it’s true.
They’ll say anything in TV and radio ads to get you to call them. But if you call you’re treated like one head of cattle in a herd.
They spend a lot on TV ads and so they get a lot of clients they don’t want. If they keep you as a client then they try to settle your case fast so they can get their money faster.
And, if you are selected, they will send you to high priced doctors who get paid vast sums of money – in cash – to do high priced surgeries on your spine or neck that will temporarily help but, soon after, will not.
They do this without letting you look at all the options because they know that the higher your medical bills, the higher their paycheck.
Some young lawyers discover this after they go to law school, but I discovered it way before I went to law school…
The Turning Point
I was only 24 years old when I lost my older brother. He was 33 when doctors messed up his treatment – only one year younger than I am now. Turning 34 for me was a gift and it made me realize that there must be others out there like me: everyday people who have been devastated by the negligence of others and who are seeking honest help from honest lawyers.
But, that is not easy to find.
So I decided to do two things with my young life to help others. First, I would go to law school to get the legal training and accreditation I needed to represent victims; and second, I would work for people who (like my brother) were affected by medical trauma.
I didn’t know how I would get to do the second part but I knew how to do the first.
So I went to law school and graduated near the top of my class.
And as I started to enter the workforce I began to pay attention to others in my chosen profession. It was not hard to see what was happening and what drove most personal injury lawyers. You see it on television ads and you experience it in the courtroom. Accumulating money is the object of our profession.
It was not what I wanted to spend most of my time thinking about and doing. I knew that money was important, but I also knew that it would not lead myself nor my clients down the primrose path to happiness – especially victims of catastrophic injury.
So I asked myself if something different could be done. Was there a different path or was I just kidding myself that an altruistic approach to injury law could work.
And then the lightbulb went off (well several actually)…
With the guidance of my lovely wife who is a practicing, holistic medicine physician and with the inspiration of reading copiously about complementary and alternative treatments for my mother who was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, I was encouraged to create an injury law practice whose mission it was to get victims medical care that actually worked.
Not temporary healing but permanent wellness.
I would not avoid using orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons or other western medicine doctors that many lawyers use to build case value and help victims with acute injuries. These physicians have skills that are sometimes needed and required.
But I also wanted to provide clients with alternative medical therapies that were less invasive and damaging to their bodies. Where the recovery was gradual and permanent with the least amount of side effects. Where victims who wanted to recover their health could come for the best treatments for them. Where the firm’s mantra was health focused and not wealth focused.
So I started the Reddy Accident Law with these goals as the core philosophy driving our practice.
If my brother was here I know he would be proud of the firm’s mission his short life inspired to create.
From ashes can rise great things and we sincerely know that if you trust us with your claim you will get better and stay better. It’s our promise to you.
